The research project led by Martina Bovo, Architect and PhD in Urban Planning and Policy, under the mentorship of Andrea Rigon, DAStU Craft, and funded by AXA Research Fund, has now begun.

The project explores the link between cities and migration, investigating the relationship between mobile and temporary migrant populations and urban planning, with the aim of generating knowledge and guidelines to rethink the role of urban planning, moving beyond the emergency-based and marginalised approaches that still prevail.  The research is being carried out in the Castel Volturno area and involves three activities: mapping the ways in which recently arrived migrant populations use the area; analysing the initiatives and actors that support their presence; and identifying the conditions that facilitate action in urban planning.

The project was developed as a result of an initial study of this area funded by CRAFT and followed by the launching of a territorial antenna, a spatial workshop and observatory, coordinated by Andrea Rigon and Marco Peverini, which explores approaches to anti-fragile planning.
