The project envisages the involvement of educational institutions (schools, territorial school offices) and local authorities (e.g., City of Milan, City of Naples), which are essential actors for the knowledge of the territory, the collection of data and the promotion of policies at both the educational and urban and social levels that can counteract trends
segregation. The involvement of social actors working in the area with projects to counter educational poverty and segregation (e.g., Save The Children, Rete QuBi; Fondazione con i bambini) will also be valuable.
The project pursues a twofold purpose, on the one hand to strengthen and expand the already existing network of academic experts working in a multidisciplinary way (sociologists, geographers, urban planners) on the issue of school segregation and on the other hand to disseminate the knowledge produced within the network also outside the academic context, in particular to local authorities, educational institutions (schools, provveditorates) and stakeholders
social stakeholders working in the area on issues related to segregation and educational poverty.
The working group has gained significant experience on the topic over the years, thanks to a number of funded projects (FARB, Erasmus+) and has also corroborated several collaborations at the academic level, with Italian and international colleagues, but also with public bodies, such as the Municipality of Milan and stakeholders (Fondazione Feltrinelli, Save The Children). The project aims to better structure networking and dissemination activities, on the one hand with respect to an academic audience with a view to achieving increasing levels of knowledge and quality, and on the other with respect to the audience of policy makers and stakeholders who are involved in various capacities on the territory in the fight against inequality and educational poverty. The activities will be integrated with current ongoing projects (PRIN and Fondazione Cariplo) on the same theme.
